Home Remedies For Blackheads
A blackhead is, like a pimple, a bump on the skin that might form on practically all body parts. They are as such not dangerous, in fact, the body gets rid of them by itself over time, but they look unpleasant, particularly on the face. They give the (wrong) impression that the person who has them has poor hygiene. Many people with blackheads naturally look for remedies.
A dermatologist would most likely recommend prescription drugs, for example a topical medication. They usually come in the form of a paste which is either applied on the blackhead directly or on the entire skin area which is affected. . However, as with practically all prescription medicine, people are wary of using them and instead look for a way on how to naturally get rid of blackheads.
The simplest one is to place a warm towel on the area affected for about 10 to 15 minutes, and then apply pressure with the fingers around the blackhead, thus pushing it out of the skin. But blackheads are often so deeply lodged inside the skin that this method is not always successful. People therefore try to get rid of blackheads with honey.
The way it works is that people with blackheads on the face hold their face over a pot of boiling water it`s called a facial steam. After that they apply honey over the blackheads, which has to be left on the skin for at least half an hour or it doesn`t work. After that the honey is wiped off with a washcloth. Since the honey is sticky it usually pulls the blackheads out of the skin.
The most effective way to get rid of blackheads in the long term is to remove the cause of their formation, dead skin cells and too much sebum (oil). It is done by cleaning the affected areas with cleansing products. Over the counter products, however, might cause more damage than good, since a lot of them are very astringent and may strip the skin of its natural oils, thereby making the problem worse.
There is definitely a link between the diet and the nutritional value of the things people eat on the one hand and blackheads on the other. Cooked carbohydrates and fats cause all kinds of skin problems, and any blackhead sufferer should replace them with raw fats (olive oil, for example, avocadoes, etc.) Eating the right kind of food reduces generally the production of sebum and increases the moisture in the skin, thereby preventing the formation of new blackheads.
